How to make a clean outline from a photo
1.Choose a clear subject
Upload a JPG, PNG, or WebP. A simple background and visible edges are easier to turn into outlines than a busy or blurry scene.
2.Tune the edges
Start with Standard. Raise Edge threshold to remove faint edges, or lower it to keep more detail. Adjust Line thickness from 0.5 to 3 px, then apply the effect again.
3.Inspect and download
Check eyes, hair, and background texture in the preview. Download the PNG when the outlines are readable; use the coloring tool if you want simpler activity sheets.

How do I turn a photo into an outline without uploading it?
Open Photo to Line Art, choose a photo from your device, adjust the edge controls, and apply the effect. The free conversion runs in your browser without signup. Optional AI actions upload an image only when you choose them.
Why does my outline have too many background lines?
Edge detection also picks up grass, hair, fabric, and compression noise. Raise Edge threshold or try Minimal, then apply again. A tighter crop and simpler background usually help more than thicker lines.
Does this export SVG paths or a transparent stencil?
No. It exports a raster PNG with a light background, not vector paths or a cut-ready stencil. The longest edge is capped at 2200 pixels; small input photos are not enlarged to add detail.
Should I use line art or a pencil sketch?
Line art emphasizes edges and open areas. Pencil sketch retains more shading and tone. Choose line art for an outline reference, or sketch for a tonal drawing study.
