A pixel grid replaces continuous-looking detail with discrete color blocks. Look at a curved edge in the preview: its staircase pattern becomes easier to recognize with visible cell lines. This is useful for observing shape simplification before trying to reproduce a subject by hand.
A close view helps you inspect block boundaries, but the full composition tells you whether the subject remains recognizable. Compare both views before saving. Small text and distant faces are poor tests because reducing them to a few cells removes the information that made them legible.
The download is a flat PNG. Photos are processed at up to 2200 pixels on the longest edge, then rounded down to complete blocks. Pixel size controls each block, not a target canvas such as 32×32. Keep your original for later edits.
