A clear source helps, but composition matters too. A distant subject remains difficult even in a large file; a closer crop often produces a more useful conversion.
You can choose the palette size, while the colors themselves are sampled from the picture. This page does not offer individual color replacement or custom swatches.
Larger blocks work well when the point is to make the change obvious. Try a fruit still life, a bright jacket, or an animal silhouette. If the result becomes a collection of unrelated squares, keep the strong palette but reduce the block size until the main form returns.
Pixel conversion deliberately removes information. It will not sharpen a blurry photograph or reconstruct a hidden expression. Choose the best available source and use the result as a new graphic interpretation. For printed work, inspect the saved image at the intended size before ordering a large copy.
The download is a flat PNG. Photos are processed at up to 2200 pixels on the longest edge, then rounded down to complete blocks. Pixel size controls each block, not a target canvas such as 32×32. Keep your original for later edits.
