Line extraction responds to changes in brightness, including the ones in fabric, grass, and shadows. A quiet background and clear subject outline usually produce a cleaner reference. If texture overwhelms the subject, prepare a closer crop or try a different source before pushing every setting to an extreme.
Use the threshold to decide which edges appear, then increase thickness only enough to make them readable. Thick lines can join nearby details and close small gaps. Compare facial features, hands, or other important parts after each change instead of judging the result solely by how dark the whole image looks.
