A three-tile row is easier to plan than a nine-post puzzle because it uses fewer pieces. Each tile should still contain something worth looking at by itself: a subject, texture, or recognizable part of the scene. Avoid a composition where one third is only empty sky unless that negative space is a deliberate design choice.
Three portrait tiles placed beside each other form a wider combined composition. Switching to square tiles changes the crop of that complete row, even though the number of files stays at three. Compare the preview after any ratio change. Keep important content inside each tile because Instagram may present profile previews differently from the full post.
