Each destination cell corresponds to one reference cell. Copy where the subject enters and leaves its boundaries, then judge the curve between those points. Look back at the complete subject regularly so the separate cell decisions form one coherent drawing.
A six-column square reference printed 12 cm wide has 2 cm cells. A destination square 30 cm wide has 5 cm cells, an enlargement factor of 2.5. Keep six rows as well, and measure the printed or hand-drawn grid instead of assuming printer scaling is exact.
