Reduce line opacity if a dark stroke covers an edge you need to copy. Save the reference as a PNG when the intersections are clear.
The tool creates regular grids. Change the row and column counts to change spacing; it does not provide freehand or individually draggable construction lines.
That depends on your drawing medium and desired finish. For a clean pencil study, draw the paper grid lightly. The exported PNG includes its grid permanently.
Art gridding works best when the large silhouette is established before internal detail. Mark the cell containing each major landmark, then compare the spaces between them. A beautifully drawn eye will not repair a head outline that is too wide.
The portrait preset has a 4:5 shape. Eight columns and ten rows therefore produce square cells. A 16 by 20 cm drawing uses 2 cm cells; a 32 by 40 cm drawing uses 4 cm cells. Choose actual print dimensions separately.
